Returns

Below are some common questions about returns & warranties.

What is your return policy?

If you’re not satisfied, you can return items that are complete and like new within 30 days. Exclusions apply.

Do you charge a restocking fee?

Canal Alarm may refuse a customer return or charge a restocking fee when the returned item is not like new.

Conditions that will lead to refused returns or restocking fees include when the returned item has: 

  • A different serial number than the one Canal Alarm originally shipped.
  • Missing parts or the original product packing material.
  • Damage because it was improperly packaged for return shipment.
  • Been heavily used.
  • Damage from drops, spilled liquid, or mishandling.
What is your warranty policy?

A manufacturer warranty backs most products sold by Canal Alarm. Although Canal Alarm does not itself warranty the products we sell, we do assist you in resolving issues during the warranty period. If you experience problems with any product you purchased that offers a manufacturer warranty, please contact support. We will either facilitate a resolution or put you in contact with the manufacturer so that they might assist you directly.

Who pays for return shipping?

Return shipping costs are deducted from your merchandise credit or refund. For most returns, Canal Alarm can issue you an UPS Authorized Return Shipping (ARS) label for a flat fee of $13 per package. Return shipping fees for verified defective or damaged items will be reimbursed.

When will I receive my refund?

After we receive your return, we normally process your exchange or refund within 2 business days (M-F). Once we issue a refund, the funds are typically available in your bank account within 5 business days. (Some banks or financial institutions may take longer.) A partial or zero refund may apply based on the condition of the returned item.

Below are some common questions about shipping & delivery.

What about shipping issues?

The risk of damage or loss to a Product passes to you upon shipment to your specified delivery location. You have two (2) days from the delivery date to notify Canal Alarm of any missing, wrong, or damaged portion of your order. Shipments delayed due to weather, natural disasters, and other uncontrollable events are not eligible for a shipping refund or credit.

When will my order arrive?

Any delivery dates or times shown as part of the checkout process are estimates and do not apply to heavy or large items that require special shipping (speakers, TVs, etc.), items shipped directly from the manufacturer, or out-of-stock items. 90% of UPS Ground packages are delivered in 1-3 business days but may take up to 10 business days, depending on the delivery zone.

Do you require a signature?

Canal Alarm does not require a signature but may be required by the carrier.

What payments are accepted?

Canal Alarm accepts American Express, Diners Club, Discover, Mastercard, Visa, bank deposit, money order, and Cash on Delivery (COD).

Do you charge sales tax?

Customers who are tax exempt may be eligible to use their tax exempt status for purchases from Canal Alarm Devices, Inc. Your tax exempt certificate must be on file at Canal Alarm Devices, Inc. at the time of purchase or sales tax will be charged as required by applicable tax laws.

  1. Attach a copy of your state’s tax exemption certificate
    The tax exemption certificate must be valid and complete. The organization or individual name and the billing or shipping address on the order must exactly match the name and address on the certificate. Only a blanket PO certificate will be accepted for the business or individual doing business with Canal Alarm Devices, Inc. No third party exemption or partial exemption certificates will be accepted.
  2. Terms for billing (optional)
    If you are a U.S. governmental agency (city, county, state or federal), publicly funded school or school district and also require terms for billing, please attach a completed copy of Canal Alarm Devices, Inc.’s Credit Application. A signed credit application is required for consideration of credit line and terms.

Please allow 5-7 business days for processing given that all required information and documentation is submitted completely and accurately. If we have any questions regarding your tax exemption request, one of our Customer Service Coordinators will contact you.

Once all required information has been received and verified, a tax exempt account will be created. One of our Customer Service Coordinators will contact you via email with your new account details and instructions on how to place an order with Canal Alarm Devices, Inc.

Orders placed prior to creation of a tax exempt account will not be subject to refund of sales tax by Canal Alarm Devices, Inc.

Does Canal Alarm price match?

It's a promise, not a promo.

You can find a lower total price within 7 days of your order, and we'll refund you the difference. Our price match policy requires:

  • The item must be identical in style, size, and color.
  • The item must be first quality. We will not price match factory seconds, open-box items, second-hand merchandise, auction items, or items sold by wholesalers or liquidators.
  • The identical item must be in stock on the competitor's site. 
  • The competitor's price must be publicly visible on their site for verification and should not require sign-up. First-time purchase discounts and other personalized coupons do not apply.
  • The website must be an authorized distributor of the brand. Items on Amazon must be sold from the manufacturer's page only.
  • The price must be published in U.S. dollars.
  • During Canal Alarm promotions, items can be discounted through either a price match or a Canal Alarm promotion, but not a combination of both.

If an item you purchased from Canal Alarm is marked down within seven (7) days of the original order date, Canal Alarm will adjust the price of an item once. To verify a price adjustment, please contact us and include your original order number with your request. Eligible refunds will be applied to your original form of payment.

Please note that any promotional pricing is for a limited time only and cannot be honored after the sale has ended.

Do you offer a line of credit

Thank you for your interest in opening a Canal Alarm business account. Please take a few minutes to complete our online credit application. The credit department will review your request and respond within 1-2 business days.

Below are some common product-related questions.

Are you an authorized dealer?

Not every website is an authorized dealer for the products they're selling. But Canal Alarm is an authorized dealer for every single brand we carry. Here are four reasons to buy from an authorized dealer.

  • Your warranty will be honored. Some manufacturers will only honor a request for service under warranty if the item was purchased from an authorized dealer. You may be asked to show proof of purchase through a dated invoice from an authorized dealer.
  • Canal Alarm only sells new equipment. The brand-new, unused, undamaged item is in its original packaging (where packaging is applicable). Packaging is the same as in our retail stores unless the manufacturer packaged the item in non-retail packaging, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag.
  • You will receive legitimate equipment made for the U.S. market. Unauthorized dealers, also called "gray market" dealers, sometimes sell units that look the same as those intended to be sold in the U.S. but do not meet the exact performance specifications. For example, they're unlikely to be UL listed and unsafe; they may need accessories provided with U.S. models and be challenging to repair.
  • Your dealer will have important information about your product. Because many manufacturers provide authorized dealers with thorough, ongoing training, those retailers have more info on how to set up and use their products. They may also be given info about product recalls or modifications.
Do you have technical support?

Technical assistance for your Canal Alarm product is available anywhere in the continental United States of America for the lifetime of your product. Technical assistance is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

When you call for technical assistance, please have the following information readily available: Canal Alarm sales order number found on the Canal Alarm order confirmation, serial number (S/N), description and images of the product's condition or problem, and a telephone number where you can be reached.

Why are your prices so good?

We may have too many of these items, or it does not have a Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) restriction set by the manufacturer that limits how we can display our selling price.

Is the product in new condition?

Products are of first quality and made for the U.S. market unless otherwise noted.
